Spot-on thanks for the info.
Windsor Street building collapse.
It stated on the teletext that this betting office has collapsed...I was standing right by it a couple of weeks ago taking a snap of the garage/drill hall, which is over the road, but didn't take a pic of the betting office.
A pic is on Toxteth.net:

The strange thing about our planning laws is that you do not have to own the land to apply for planning permission.
Maybe someone local could put in an application for a children's playground where the petrol station is going to be, if you get in first then they will have to say yes or no, and maybe give some kind of clue as to what the council WILL allow to be built.

There has been a story going around for years that Tesco want the current TA on Aigburth rd , If they get the go ahead on Park rd , that idea may well be squashed , Tesco seem to own land here , there , & everywhere.

The Windsor Street building collapse was caught on CCTV by the Fire Brigade. It was shown on BBC TV earlier today...maybe it will be repeated later on the tea-time news.

Thanks for posting that. I used to live around there and remember when it was Leo's supermarket. My Nan used to have a cafe on Park Rd.,many years ago. Although it seems a great proposal for the area [travelators!] I wonder what Kwik Save further down and all those little shops directly opposite think. Should they be worried?
Dave.
It looks very depressing around there so a Tescos may help the local area.

The Somerfield (former Kwik Save) on Park Road is big.
The proposed Tesco was Leo's when I came to the Dingle in 1991, and even then it was a cut above Kwikkie's.
I'd say it is the nearest 'superstore' to Town, with the next being ASDA on Smithdown Road.
I was upset when Leo's closed, and am looking forward to Tesco opening.
If Park Road looks depressing, that doesn't say much for the rest of Liverpool.
Yes, there are two groups of derelict buildings, but most of Park Road looks quite good these days.

I have to say that on my pub pics rounds, i've been all over Liverpool and quite a lot of it is tinned up or falling down. Edge Hill, Toxteth, Dingle, Kensington, Kirkdale, Bootle, Clubmoor, West Derby - the list could go on.
Park Rd looks OK, especially the part from High Pk St to the the Dingle. Some shops look fine there.
Somerfields may close down when Tescos comes on line. Or maybe not, as the Tesco is not to serve just the local community but the wider, Aigburth, etc. Tesco then may attract people to the area and Somerfields and the shops would do good business. The area will be a big shopping centre again.
