    Default Liverpool Docks 1960

ss Media in Canada Dock in 1960 against the light with a borrowed 105mm
lens, thus you have foreshortening of the ship. Notice the man in the bow he is either polishing the bell or ringing eight bells.

That is a cracker mate. I love the mood of the black and white photos. Thanks for sharing it with us.

The sailor would not be polishing bells in that light. Unless he had been a 'bad lad.'

My dad used to take me to see an 'Empress' boat at the Pier Head in the 60s. I'm not sure if it was the Empress of England or the Empress of Canada. Anybody know which one it was likely to be?

They're good pics, gregsdad. How they illustrate the way the docks have altered.

I particularly like the shot of the 'Britain. So clear and has transferred well. The last time I saw a cluster over the side was when we were waiting to go through the Panama and was trying to catch Garfish on a meat hook

    Thanks mate,

Hi Gregs Dad, Sorry but, That is not the Media in 1960, that ship has four masts on the foredeck, the Media in 1960 only had one mast and was a lot bigger. Good atmospheric photo. I wonder who she realy is?

Could have been either of these,Canada,England or Britain.
The Empress of Britain had a chequered career having at least 6 name changes
    Queen Anna Marie,
    Carnivale,
    Fiesta Marina,
    Olympic,
    Topaz
and the last I heard in 2003 the Peace Boat, see below
