Construction of the new Floral Pavilion is well underway. It appears that most of the steel work is now in place.

Reminds me of the structures in Amsterdam for their floral hot houses.. lovely..sounds like a promising project...
Great photos.
It's a pity they didn't keep the long curved wall in Virginia Road.

That's strange Philip, the only part of the wall that remains just now is the part seen in your photo.
Today...
The wall was, of course, a lot longer (where the buses used to stop) and was demolished as soon as the demolition team started work. The capping stones were removed and taken away on pallets. I don't know if anything else was taken as reclaim though.
That's better than nothing.
These were the pics I should have posted.
March 2007.

Yes, I remember waiting there with my dad for the blue 31 or 32 bus to take us back through the tunnel after another great day out in New Brighton. Do you remember that great big wide slide at the side of the indoor fair?
I used to love going there and listening to Billy Butler present some very entertaining acts but mostly he just yapped.
Theres also a series of webcams to show how the pavillion is coming along...
