To me Phillip Flynn seems to be a largely imaginary figure. The only mentions of him seem to be on ghost oriented websites. Most of the histories I have read (books and online) seem to give the date of 1575 for the halls construction but do not give any mention of Flynn.
Every mention of Flynn seems to indicate that he built the hall, what does that mean? Was he meant to be the architect, or the original builder (which is unlikely since the Molenyeux family were the owners)?

I think Flynn is an imaginary person; the ODNB does not list him and if he is not worthy of mention there then it is unlikely he is a historical character at all.
Hope this helps.
