WORK has started on a new fast food and retail development on one of Liverpool’s busiest gateways to the city centre.

Liverpool-based developer and investor Clayson Developments is behind the 5,000 sq ft speculative project on Great Howard Street, a mile north of the heart of the city, which is being funded by the Yorkshire Bank.

The roadside development will offer four 1,250 sq ft self-contained fast food or, subject to planning, retail units. One has already been snapped up by international sandwich chain Subway.

Clayson Developments is constructing a single-storey building and the site also includes car-parking areas for customers. Its building team are now on site and the construction work is scheduled to be completed by February next year.

Graham Bowling, Associate at Knight Frank in Liverpool, which is acting for Clayson Developments, said: “There has already been considerable interest in this development. The fact that a major fast food operator, like Subway, has pre-let one of the units shows its attraction and the demand that exists for the site.

“The development will serve the ever-growing number of people working in this area to the north of the city centre, which is also a major corridor into Liverpool.”

A TRIO of prominent ground floor retail units have become available to let in Liverpool.

The new-build accommodation is ready for immediate fit-out and occupation.

The property is located on Smithdown Road, opposite Sefton Park Pharmacy and the Asda Supermarket.

Two units comprise 1,304 sq ft while the other is 626 sq ft. Finished to a shell condition, they benefit from aluminium framed plate glass windows and doors, roadside frontage and rear parking, and are contained within a mixed retail/residential development.
