Or are these two now a part of Wirral, with Wirral BC controlling the two and their own town halls redundant? Which effectively make them all in one entity - merged.
Sadly, Birkenhead and Wallasey Corporations ceased to exist in 1974 as did many local authorities.
Birkenhead Town Hall is now Wirral Museum but Wallasey Town Hall is where Wirral MBC's Head office is. However, several departments are scattered across Wirral with Bebington Civic Centre home to Educational services. The Cheshire Lines Building on Canning Street, Birkenhead is where Operational Services are based.
To be honest, seeing as Wirral Council is now practically bust, it would have been better if Wallasey and Birkenhead Corps were still around. They would do a much better job at serving their residents!
Wirral Council is now so bust, Birkenhead Library may have to be closed down permanently and Liscard Hall is still lain derelict in Central Park!
