    Default Route of first Mersey tunnel

    Hi everyone, been reading about consrtuction of mesey tunnel and I am just wondering if any one knows of the route of the tunnel down to the river from its entrance at the oldhaymarket. Hope someone can help.

    Yes, the route in mapped out on normal A-Z's.

    It's pretty much as to be expected, in a straight line under Dale street and Brunswick Street. A section of Dale street actually caved in during construction.

    Dale St,then 'soft' left at Moorfields,past the North John St vent.Then down Brunswick St,then a slight left at the end of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Building..

    It hasn't changed at all since it was built to my knowledge. The inset is prior to 1934...

    They "claimed" that Manchester Dock and Chester Basin were subsiding because of the tunnel excavations, so filled them in.
