    Default Mr Dead, The Coroner

Sometimes you just couldn't make it up, but it seems Liverpool's Coroner during the 1930s and 1940s was Mr G C Mort, the surname translating into from French as 'dead'

Ha,ha, funny you should mention that -- only today my dad was talking about a consultant doctor called Mr Bone.

I've heard of a surname Death, but pronounced 'Deeth'

There was a doctor in London who shopped at Lewis Medical Bookshop his name was Dr. Doctor.
De'Ath is another way of writing Mr and Mrs Death. Liverpool phonebook used to have Tickle, the Misses (two sisters) and there is a TV producer Lavender Hankie

One that amuses me is Terry Nutkins - he's a nature and wild life expert on tv, and his name is very apt. Terry Nutkins .. reminds me of Beatrix Potter's Squirrel Nutkin .. he must get a bit of stick over it!

What about Thomas Crapper - he was associated with the widespread use of the flush toilet?!! Apparently the term 'crap' has nothing to do with his name - purely coincidental
