Sylvia's Drawings

Of a piece with her early, controlled poems,
the disciplined line, the sure touch, whether
a furled umbrella to combat the UK rain

or a common-or-garden copper kettle
-- such as one that sat
on the gas stove

in which later
she would
rest her
head.
