    Default Look-Up Liverpool Exhibition

Banner for "Look-Up Liverpool Exhibition". The sculpture on the banner can be seen, if you look up along Tithebarn Street.

Sounds like an interesting exhibition, but if you "Look up" at St George's Hall itself, you'll see a very large, very empty pediment, where the statuary is deemed too politically incorrect to put back!

Something has been erected inbetween the lions...it looks like it's going to hold lights to me. I'll post a pic later.

That'll be for the Jewish festival that occurs in December (the Hebrew month Kislev), also spelled Chanukah. It is also called "The Festival of Light".

We're getting a temporary ice rink for Chrimbo.

Come on - spill the beans!

Has someone flooded the main hall, can't get rid of the water so just decided to turn the heating off and charge people for skating on it?

Thanks, A.D.W. This from a U.S. newspaper which will probably reflect what will also occur in Liverpool:

Lighting the Hanukkiah, a special nine-stemmed menorah, is the only spiritual requirement of the holiday. . . .

This year, the first candles will be lit after sundown Tuesday night. The flames burn for about a half-hour, and the time is meant to be one of quiet reflection. According to tradition, no work should be done while the candles are burning. Jews say prayers and sing songs while lighting the candles.

On the first night of Hanukkah, the Shamash, or guiding candle, is lit first and is then used to ignite the first candle. Jews first light the candle furthest to the right, and proceed to light other candles from right to left as the festival goes on. On each subsequent night, the newest candle is lit first.
