It's good that there will be some representation from China! I wonder whatever happened to the Chinese seamen, who were forcibly "repatriated" after the end of WW2,once we had no further use for them?

Was there any WWII shipping from Liverpool to China?

Is there a significance to China being specifically mentioned in the story?

As an aside,I think, but there have been previous posts on the predicament of the chinese/asian crews who were employed in any oriental voyages.

I will be there if I am available, but I could be away on that date. I know a man, Lou, Charles Louis Barron, from Wallasey who was repatriated back to Liverpool, from Changi, Singapore, he was captured when the Gloucester Castle was sunk in 1942 a friend of mine was killed at the time.
Lou now lives in Dunedin New Zealand. I know he will be pleased there will be a memorial

My wife's great uncle was a Japanese POW. He was due to be executed but got away with it. He came home in a terrible state.

Its about time a memorial was in place. Our Government has hid this as much as the Japanese do. If we remember what happened then they are not forgotten.
