Does anyone remember the prefab houses on Park Lane,
lookin for photos of them from the 60's,
I think they were near the junction of Jamaica St
did anyone here live in them or remember them

hiya savo sorry cant help you with info on your prefabs,it has however reminded me of the ones on Croft street off Prescot street ,i think Ged has a pic on his site. I also remember them being on the opposite side of Prescot street at the end of Hardwick street just before St Judes Church....early to mid sixties which was roughly facing the Old Fort Pub.{The Pub still stands today] ....as kids.we used to call them the matchbox houses.
...good luck with your search !

I remember Prescot St, Further uphill from the Old Fort there was an old chemistry shop that supplied the makings of explosives to us kids, all legal in them days. Further on up was another pub, the Blue Ball. It stood next to the police station hence name. The group I played in st the time, the Type, played it regularly. We met and were taken on by our first agent, Harry Ross.there.
Hope you find your prefabs, Savo,
Cheers,

Hi chas, i remember that row of shops on that side of Prescot Street ,cos i used to pass them going to and from the Collegiate. The ones i remember best are the music shop come second hand shop were my brother sold a violin that he found off Kensington in one of the derelict houses [or Bombdies as we used to call them] ....looking back it may well have been a Stradivarius but our kid didnt care cos he got a ten bob note for it!The other one i distinctly remember was at the top corner with Low Hill, it was a paint manufacturers shop. Sorry Savo that's not helping you much though is it ? hope someone else can be more useful than me
