Interesting to see that picture of Catherine Street in 1937! the building on extreme left of pic eventually became the 'Ritz Roller Skating Rink! went there quite a bit in my younger days,!!!

    Finally,
Rossie Theater and picture house, address 20/24 Roscommon St.,at this time occupied by Wilcock & Tyrer Ltd, car repairs,

On the left of the pic is the Bents pub, the Wynnstay Arms(no 37), on the corner of Portland Place, reopened in the 1980's as the Cottonpicker.

A glimpse of the Dr Stanley brass plate can be seen on building next to the Rossy cinema. At this time premises were a sweetshop, proprietor Mrs Annie Westhoff (nos 26-28). I recall the shop premises as being above ground level and climbing a few stairs to get into the shop.

To the right of the Rossy can be seen the Tetley house, the Farmers Arms(no 18).

I'm going to take a guess at Paddington (Edge Hill) before the school was there. I'm betting that the church at the top is St Mary's.

    Thanks Lindylou,
I do think GeorgePorge deserved a bit of praise for his smash & grabs on LRO online. I've spent hours looking and come away empty handed.
    Best wishes,
    Chas
