Remember the old street with the copper and the red button you pressed to hear live 'sounds' from the street? That was excellent...
Yes! He was a warrior, he had a chainmail outfit on I think. He really scared me.

The street too! It was all brilliant.

loved that street. It was in the Labour Museum at the top end of William Brown st for a while.

I was disappointed it wasn't moved to the Museum of Liverpool Life when that originally opened.

    Wonder what happened to it?

I think I also remember the bust of a warrior wearing chain armour and holding a sword - he was pretty frightening too!

    spooky stuff!

I also remember in the roman/greek part with all the statues, they had a time when they all spoke (had loop tapes running in the background) and I think the statue lit up. That scared the life out of me!

I also liked the military corridor with all the old uniforms and the display with I think it was the Queen Mother presenting the colours to troops. it was done to look like it was going off into the distance.

I remember the rooms to the left of the entrance. There was a ring of Napoleon's there with a lock of Josephine's (or Marie Louise's??) hair.

I think there was also a room depicting a court martial (in the military section) and a scene from the trenches from the 14-18 war. Wasn't there also a couple of VC's on display?

I'm sure there was also a massive Totem Pole (Native Canadian tribe, I think). Also the shrunken heads in one section...

Yep, it's all coming back now. That antlered animal in bones too. As you first went up all the museums steps and into the entrance there was the sunken pond with all the coins in it by the info desk.

Anyone remember the big glass case upstairs with the model in it of the freshfield section of railway line and pine trees/beach and you could press buttons that lit it up certain sections of it and it would lite up a description of what you were looking at. I enquired about that and apparently it was donated to a Formby school to have in their entrance hall.

God yes - the pond with the coins in it! (I've got a vague memory of the railway line). Remember the penny farthing on the wall in the transport section and also the Ford Anglia (I think it was blue)? My Dad always had an Anglia. I think there was also a giant model of the Titanic just after the entrance.

Yes, the Anglia though was a pale green one. It was later in the museum of Liverpool life at Mann Island.

Wasn't there a royal coach in the basement?

    And the old fire engine!

I loved the coin pond in the foyer.
I don't remember the shrunken heads though, although I remember the totem pole.
