the council has set up a permanent travellers site at Oil Street, which seems a contradiction in terms to me - one resident has lived in Liverpool for 30 years.

Gypsies conjure up a very romantic image but you do not see many true Romany People now sadly. i remember they used to attend the local Horse Fairs and i can remember them showing off Horses for Sale up and down a High Street. Where i live i see the they are going to spend £ 1,000000 on a new travellers site yet we do not even have decent hospital facilities..

I know one or two, and there not short of money, they seem to live in luxury homes now! certainly the few that I know do. with regards to the hospital issue, I suppose thats down to healthcare funding, and regarding the setting up of the gypsy site thats probably because of legislation that says each area must provide facilities?

Coincidence then = our council has just said the same thing.
We have them on a disused busway about half a mile from us
Free rubbish bins and water supplied along with toilets.
