Another labour of love and dedication by Tony in collating all the May Blitz deaths.

This will be used in a forthcoming exhibition as a local resource to the many who are seeking information from wartime Liverpool. That is also fantastic recognition for all of Tony's efforts.

    Thanks Ged

A few people have contacted me asking to use info from the website. I will let you all know what is what nearer the time.

The Mill Road story will be in the Liverpool Echo Blitz special paper.

I dont need the recognition. Its good for the site as it gets it better known. I want these people remembered, I will work tireless to make that happen. That is what is most important.

    Never Forget.

I .have a postcard I believe from WW1. French, got a little lace bit that lifts up with a card inside saying 'From your loving cousin Harry' The card has embrodered flags on it. The back of the card says something like 'to my cousin *something* with love from Harry. It has an address in Scotland but I wonder if it was ever sent....did Harry come home? I wish I knew of someone who collects this kind of thing and I would send it. I had it framed for 30 years!! ow it is lying on a shelf. I cannot throw it out, too disrespectful to Harry

    THE DURNING ROAD COLLEGE BOMBING

    http://liverpoolremembrance.weebly.c...g-shelter.html

I went to the rear of where this stood to find Old College Place and a small memorial garden. Apparently the larger monument listing all those that perished in 1940 was moved on the anniversary of the bombing last year to Brae Street School off Holt Road.

Nice one Ged. I shall post it on the website later.

The glass memorial from St Cyprians church ( wrecked inside ) was moved to the Anglican Cathedral, restored then put up in Brae street school.

The letter from the Queen Mother mounted on the plaque is now in a pretty poor state as these photos, which I took a couple of weeks ago, show. It has been badly weather-damaged, mainly due to rain having got in behind the glass.

It seems to me that it is rather disgraceful that this should have been allowed to happen at a time when we’re remembering these tragic events. Perhaps a reminder to the Palace that we need an update might be in order?

By all means, if only in the hope that they may nudge someone into recognising that something should be done to refurbish the plaque.

I don't know if Kensington New Deal or Prospects 2000 still exist, but if they do, perhaps they should be shown them...
