Medea Street, renamed from Crete Street is one of the Greek Themed Streets along with the likes of Zante, Candia and Mitylene Streets. Situated at the Great Homer Street/Netherfield Road North/Kirkdale Road point, this photograph from 13th July 1967 captures Medea Tower, Corinth Tower and the construction of Elison, Seacombe and Edinburgh Towers on Nethy (though only two are visible)

This was the new age of high Rise homes in the sky, Corinth Tower had been built on some of the old terraced streets such as Upper Potter Street and Marwood Street at the top of Anderson Street, facing the Popular Cinema. An area that sadly was once spoilt by sectarianism which gladly has now gone away in these more enlightened times, you will see 'God bless our Pope' scrawled onto the wall which surrounds the backie of the 1950s built flats.
