    Taffy,
    Thanks for that link, I had seen part of the first one before but not all of it. Amazing town scenes, police actually walking about and no yobbos in sight. Perhaps todays chief constable could learn something from it.

    Yes, I think they are beginning to realise the financial value of many of their records. Hence I suspect the refusal to allow its use on this site. Quite a few books on Liverpool have used their old photos free of charge and gone on to make substantial profits. I believe they now charge about £40 per old photo if someone wants to publish it in a book.
