The former Mere Lane cinema has certainly seen better days.

Wasn't somebody murdered there, a few years ago?

I'm getting a little bit worried about you,Oudi.

This lamp standard is situated in the middle of the road of the two pic links I posted previously,it/they were laid there in 1890 give or take five years, its still there today as I type.

Now then on west derby road by brougham terrace there used to be underground public toilets opposite the old cinema, where these toilets were there was another lamp of the same ilk I think? and this one was taken down, why not leave that one up as well?

I'm summising the lamp is a piece of architecture and the heritage has stopped the council from removing it?

Its the last piece of me past thats still standing.

There was also another of these lamps at the bottom of St Doming Road where it crossed over Everton Valley, alas I cannot find a pic of that one.

The Mere Lane lamp standard is a 'Listed building' so has some protection from demolition.
Here's a similar one, in Hill Street, that I don't think is Listed, as it is damaged:

George, if only you gave the address of this lamp-post. I have the list of the listed buildings in Liverpool on-screen. There is nothing listed for Mere Lane and no lamp-post listed for Everton Road.
    So where is it?

The link works O.K. for me. On Google streetview the lamp is at Hill Street, near Hyslop Street.
I passed the Mere Lane one a few months ago and it had been painted black. The buildings in the background had been demolished.

edit: The lamp standard is Listed as Breckfield Road North.

One wonders why that lamp is grade II and the other lamps of the same ilk where uprooted.?

West Derby Road,Oudi is where the other lamp was.
