Thread: REMEMBER CHURCH ST LIKE THIS?

    Just read through this thread. I only vaguely remember the buses in this part of Church Street, although I remember Woolies vividly.

    What I really do remember is the corner of Church Street, where Mothercare used to be. This is where the buses turned, after the first part of Church Street was pedestrianised. God - that was a scary and dangerous crossing. Even now I feel a bit sick at what I used to see there - I'm sure there were loads of accidents at this junction.

    Yes Klaatu Woolies as well...I think that shut about 1982?? Wasn't that somewhere by where Keys Court is now? I remember C&A as well...

    Yes, you're right Burkhilly. Bad junction that. Horne Bros was where MacDonald's now stands. I think I remember someone getting killed at the junction there

    Remember seeing Tommy cooper in Lewisis about 59 ish he was selling little rolling machines like fag rolling machines only you put a blank paper into it and rolled it out came a pound note.good old tommy made me laugh for years.rip.
