Default looking for date of death.

Brothers and sisters, can someone help me out?, I am attempting to find out which year my ancestor died.
Thomas Pilkington b1831 in Lydiate, Lancs,I have him (and his wife Alice) on the 1901 census in the family home in Tarbock, but there the trail ends. I have tried the only resources available to me without sucess (however I did come across a reference which seemed to indicate 1906, but I can find nothing else to confirm this).
If I can proffer any more info, please let me know.
As always, I am grateful for all and any assistance.
p.s. would it be asking too much for the same info re his wife Alice( c1835 b Sefton) ?
Au revoir mes amis, au revoir.

    Just passing the time...

I'm looking for the date of death
I can't have long to go
what was banked as for my health
    that account is woeful low

I've ignored my share of warnings
    and lived on as before
there can be but few dawnings
ere life's wave recedes from shore

I've lived a long and full life
had more than my fair share
now the edge is lost from living's knife
and no more from fate can pare

    perhaps life ended long ago
and in a living hell I dwell
this is what I have to show
for a life I've lived too well

    with life's flaming match
I touched a wick or two
kith and kin, aye, there's the catch
for soon I must leave you

rejoice all that knew or care
grieve not for this mother's son
strive to be equal to life's dare
live life, you have but only one.

Brother O, the above has nought to do with my enquiry, but I am the better for your posting it.
As I am unfamilliar with these words, I cannot tell if the work is your own, I have not seen the legend 't/a' before, does this signify some sort of copyright?
No matter mon ami, I thank you for seeing it, and if I was the inspirational force behind the penning of it, my day was not wasted.
Au revoir mon frere, au revoir.

The above missives have been placed in the wrong locations due to my lack of knowledge of this keyboard, but it should make some sort of sense I hope.
