    Excellent Stuff Gerard
Congratulations must also go to all involved at the church in creating such a beautiful space,,,,,thanks also to Lizzie for highlighting it

...and to think it appears it was at serious risk of demolition as far back as the sixties for the then planned new Royal Hospital, The Site of the new Hospital was eventually changed and unfortunately, the equally magnificent St Judes on Hardwick Street was not so fortunate.

    Keep up the good work.....

and a slightly late Happy New year to you Gerard, and to all Yo Liverpool members !

Absolutely fantastic. Those bauble shots are my fave.
Puzzles me how people can play stupid A-Z games during the night (or day) and can't even comment or even leave a "thanks" on such fine work.
    Brilliant Gerard

    Fabulous photographs...once again.

This was the largest catholic parish in the country up till the outbreak of the Second World War.

SFX College, 1843, was the first catholic grammar school in the country.

...I think the college moved to Woolton in the 60's.

My Ma sent me out on a Sunday morning, I never liked going to church, I'd walk past and go down town and just get back as they were coming out and walk home !

This is where S F X parish was formed by a meeting of 8 business men. Charlie Chaplin attended the school for a little while, also John Gregson, the old film star. 2 former pupils won the V C in the first world war.
The college always had a prep school in Woolton, so when I left in 1952 they upped sticks and moved the college to Woolton.
Melwood was sold to Liverpool F C in 1952.
Everton F C played at Melwood before Liverpool as there was always a annual match E F C versus the college, followed by a big nosh up. I think this was organised by Jack Sharp.

It doesn't bother me anymore John...
it tells me I'm good at what I do when the comments don't come...
and I really could not give 2 f****..
the clever know it all fools on here cant see what their ignorance says.. it speaks volumes..

Believe me mate, there's worse than on here for green eyed envy..
There's envy.. Jealousy.. and downright pure bad basta***s
(those that follow me on facebook will know what I'm on about.... its not hard to find !!..)

I guess the only way to make them more green eyed with envy is to just do what I do, eh.. ?

Get out on the real streets of Liverpool... get down and get with it... the only way I know..

    Speak soon mate..
