Default Liverpool Fire Brigade, tug o war and other sports

My Dad passed away some years ago now, when he was only 54. He was a very keen sportsman and loved the sports arranged by the LFB. I have recently managed to get hold of some photos of my Dad playing Tug O War. Now I know where some of the shots where taken but not all and I dont know all the people. I do however have a list of the team members of the Tug o War Team.

Station Officer Ted Molyneux was the trainer of the Tug o ' war team

    Ken Patterson
    Jim Byrne
    Jerry Mooney
    Harry Whipp
    Dave Whelan
    Ray Evans
    Bob Cookson
    Dave Pritchard
    John Edwards
    Ted Molyneaux
    Bobby ’Bluey’ Wilson
    Andy ?

I also know that my Dad played Rugby for the LFB and have heard that he played football but I am unsure of the footy connection. If you have any photos from about the 60s of the sports activities of the LFB please contact me. If you have any other info about the pictures as in where, when and who please contact me. I obvioulsy know which one was my Dad but the only other person I know is the trainer Ted Molyneaux.

Thanks for any help you may be able to give me.

Hi Mart, I know Simon and I have had contact with him. unfortunately thats where the story stops, or starts depending how you look at it. He was able to supply me with some photos and details but not all. To explain a little further my Dad broke his neck in 1967 during a shout and even worked for over a week with the injury. Now my Dad was in the brigade for 18 years and theres a lot more to his story that is recorded. I would like to meet some of his old work colleagues before the inevitable. I found a site called The Codgers and hope to get more info from there.

    Thanks for your reply.

I don't really have a clue and no ideas on that score that are fit to print. Maybe he used to get sausages out of the back door and was in mourning?

    Glynne,
there is an internet site called "mfs codgers" which consists mainly of retired members of Merseyside Fire Service, and a few serving members. Apply to sign up (its a free to join site), then post some details about your dad and ask if anyone has any memories or stories to tell about him. You can also post your pics and ask if anyone can put names to faces. It's amazing the stuff the codgers can dredge up from the past.
Any problems getting signed up, let me know and I'll have a word with the administrators. My e mail address if required is lorrainedal@virginmedia.com.
Good luck and I'm sure there'll be lots of info available on the site for you
    Lorraine
