    Default Herculaneum Dock Area

A DEVELOPER wants to build more than 200 flats, offices and shops in a new complex at Liverpool’s Herculaneum Dock.

Some local residents have objected to the City Quay scheme because they say the development would block views of the River Mersey, as well as creating more traffic.

Councillors will discuss the plan next Tuesday.

Hasn't the dock already been totally redeveloped?!

You would think so by looking at it. I have an idea it may be along the bit that runs parallel to Riverside Drive towards the Festival Gardens, its a strip of land on the left as you drive towards Aigburth from town, just a thought.

Just had another thought, doesn't the dock area extend across the road to the other side nearer the waterfront?

In reality, how many people actually stand and stare at the view from there?

A 12-storey building is hardly a skyscraper anyway...

FAMILIES in a community made famous by television’s Bread series look likely to lose a battle to save their views of the Welsh mountains and glorious sunsets.

Hundreds of people in the Shorefields area, around Grafton Street, have signed a petition in a bid to block plans for a new homes scheme on Herculaneum Dock.

Their own terraced houses are on top of a rock cliff face, giving residents uninterrupted views across the Mersey towards Wales.

They claim the scheme by Liverpool development company City Quay will ruin their grandstand view of stunning scenery.

City Quay want to build 218 homes, retail and leisure schemes and a 228-space car park on the last remaining undeveloped area of the dock. continues....

    Default the view

I was there this after. looking at the view and it is better than some terraced views in Liverpool. I don,t think that the 12 storeys would take too much of the view away. If it did for some residents they can always walk along a bit and see the view from another angle.

Those Bread street residents can only see the river if they stick their heads out of their windows, or stand in the street.
It would affect the residents in Grafton Street more.
I say "more" but any shadow from a 12-storey building will fall on the new residents who are actually living on the Herculaneum Dock (in L3, they would hasten to add).

This part of L3 is still in Toxteth of course whatever the residents of the Herculaneum Dock might care to believe !!!

What would New York be like if everyone complained when a new skyscraper ruined their view?

FAMILIES living in the community made famous by popular television series Bread protested yesterday they will be forced to live where the sun does not set. Liverpool City Council’s planning committee approved a planning application from City Quay to build an S-shaped tower block of 218 residential units, ranging from eight to 12 storeys at the former Herculaneum Dock. more
