    Default Scouse(?) Infiltration.

Spotted this monument, while wandering round Corfu town. The lettering was in Greek,so I guessed it was something local being commemorated, but it turned out to be in honour of the Lord high commisioner,Howard Douglas(1832-35)who was also M.P. for Liverpool (1842-47) William Gladstone 4 times prime minister, who lived in Rodney st,was also a commisioner in 1859,but nothing for him! So now you know!!

Thanks Steve....got me thinking - do Liverbird's migrate outside the city. Beside the Pooley gates, I've not seen any outside Liverpool?

Mmmm, often hard to define, as it does/has varied in style over the years! As for Pooley gates,it looks like a nother small step to their return has been made recently, by council rep's!

Wherever there was a Martins Bank/Bank of Liverpool they sometimes had a Liverbird symbol.

    This one in Leeds: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=leed...3.89,,2,-19.72
