    Default Chris George's Mum

    Hello everyone

    Friends, I wanted you to know that my mother, Yoria Christine George, passed away peacefully about 2:30 am local time at Gilchrist Hospice, Towson, Maryland, USA. My Mom was born in Liverpool, England, September 27, 1920 so when she passed she was a month shy of her 90th birthday.

    The accompanying photograph shows Yoria in October 1943, when she was 23 years old and serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) helping to monitor German bombing raids on the Liverpool area. She married my father, Gordon B. George, a physiotherapist in the Royal Air Force medical service, on February 22, 1945 at St. Anne's Church, Aigburth, Liverpool.

    My family and I emigrated to the United States in 1955. My mother worked as a receptionist, latterly, before retiring from Woodholme Country Club, Pikesville, Maryland in 1974, to take care of my father who had been diagnosed with cancer. My father passed away in 1979.

    Thank you all for your expressions of support and sympathy. My wife Donna and I very much appreciate all of the care and love we have been receiving from our friends. My mother had a long life. I am her only child.

    Chris

    Sad news Chris.
    That you dear mother is now beyond suffering you are at least left with a store of fond memories.
    My thoughts are with you and your family.

    Chris, I threw me book open, at this page...

    Last Lines.

    Even such is Time, that takes in trust
    Our youths, our joys, our all we have,
    And pays us but with earth and dust;
    Who in the dark and silent grave,
    When we have wandered all our ways,
    Shuts up the story of our days;
    But from this earth, this grave, this dust,
    My God shall raise me up, I trust.

    Very sorry to hear your news. What a good age - almost 90. Your mum must have been a strong lady. I'm glad you had her for so long, we all hope we can keep our parents forever, and I certainly hope I have mine as long as possible. Your mum was a marvellous age but she will be in a better place now.

    Sympathy to all your family.

    Chris, so sorry to learn of your mom's passing.

    I said goodbye to my mother less than six months ago, I still think about her everyday,
    and I don't think that will ever change. Be thankful that you will have many happy memories
    to treasure of your dear mom in these most difficult of times.

    You and Donna are in my thoughts.
