Default Taking up the tram lines in Park road.

Hello, maybe some of my fellow members could help me. For years I have been searching for an old photograph of men digging up Park road Dingle. I have seen one in many books but it is not the one I am looking for. I think it is taken from the oposite side from the one in the books. Help would be appreciated.

thanks Kev. I have never seen it myself, it is my brother who would like to see it. It has something to do with one of the shops in the shot, Gates the grocers apparently?

    Hiya Verdi,
This pic is from the Council's online archive. Sounds similar to the one you described, except the men are digging up Park Road to lay down the tram tracks.

    "Ref No: 352 ENG/2/170
Title: Laying Tramway in Vicinity of Alfred Place, Park Road
    Date: 1898
Description: A photograph of a tramway being laid on Park Road, in the vicinity of Alfred Place. A number of men are working on the site"

Thanks Dave, I have got that one, but Our Kid reckons a photo was take from the other side of the road looking up Park Road, showing Gates the Grocers. I have not seen it myself. On a note, we used to live in Woodruff St Dingle. A friend of mine was into local history, and went to the library to get photos of the street, but they only showed thetop with Park Road. Then about a year later he came back with some more, that showed our house, me mam on the step. And me and some mates on their step, taken in 1960. I didn't even know they existed!!

Do you know the address of Gates the Grocers, or what block it was in?

This is from toxteth.net and is the block next to the Dingle pub (Leonora St to Peel St), where Turners now have their yard.
I've got quite a lot of photocopies of Park Road photos, but the one Dave supplied is the only one I've seen where they're actually digging up the road.

cheers Philip, I think Gates was on the other side of Park Road, I will try and find the address. I thank everyone for their help, as I say I have never seen this photo, but our kid swears he saw it.

Default tram lines in Park Road

Don't know if these are any help — found them on the record office site.
Couldn't see the pic on Scouser Dave's link.
The second pic is titled "Laying tramway in vicinity of Alfred Place, Park Road"
