Thanks again Colin, this Blog is becoming a real public service.

The orphanages where within earshot of the first passenger railway system and station [I think] at Crown Street. Although the service would be silent back then as they were hauled up the Edge hill embankment by rope.

Talking of 'a real public service', Myrtle St. has done its civic duty over the years - apart from those examples from Colin, wasn't the Liverpool gymnasium situated there?
Then there are the Children's Hospital and what I recall as the E.N.T. hospital ( although I know it's had a few other identities in its life time).

Yes you're right Dave. Been a bit of a street in its time.
