FOUR families left living in a city centre block of former council flats said they were left ?high and dry? after the private developer which bought the building went bust.

Families who bought flats in Bispham Tower under the ?right to buy scheme? said their homes were rendered ?worthless? following the collapse of FM Developments.

Every other flat in the 13-storey, 56-flat building was gutted ahead of the revamp.

But work ground to a halt around five weeks ago.

MPs and city bosses today said they were ?extremely concerned? by the situation.

And the Health and Safety Executive promised to investigate concerns raised about the safety implications of the building.
