    Question Liverpool remand home

Just wondering if anyone knows where the Liverpool remand home was ?

I know of one which was on Menlove Avenue in Woolton, but where there any others across the city ?

    Thanks in advance !

I should imagine there were a few, but think they'd be named after the house or institution they occupied, and not actually have "Remand Home" in the title.
They're probably listed under "Homes, Institutions and Orphanages" in street directories.

Menlove was a grand old house. I used to escort the absconders back and I remember walking into a big old room with dark panelling, bookshelves everywhere and a roaring fire. It seemed very cozy but of course some may have different views. As mentioned, Dyson Hall is Liverpool council secure accommodation for juveniles.

I remember being on the BBC forum ages ago and there was a person who was in Menlove correction centre or whatever it was called and was very disturbed about what 'allegedly' went on in there?

My brother was sent to Hightown Remand Home during the war for a minor offence by todays standards , & Mr Greatrex was the gentleman in charge . Ron

Do you remember "Paddy",on here, who never seemed to have gotten over his experiences,in places like Menlove, and died quite recently? I know he posted on other sites!

He wasn't the only one who had stories about that place. I seem to remember that it was closed quite suddenly and that shortly afterwards an investigation was set up on what had gone on there. What the final verdict was, I do not know.
