It's certainly an old road, showing on the 1849 map I have. I am convinced that the name is original for the road seeing as there was a Rock Cottage at the top of Rocky Lane.

I will have to see if I can get a copy of that interesting postcard. I am a collector of postcards and have a number of Merseyside postcards in my collection.
