    Nice pic Colin.
I never ventured that far in my youth.

My neck o' the woods again Colin

Frequented often by the lads n girls of Gerard Gardens - cheaper than the Odeon across London Road.

I went there when it became a snooker hall too just before it closed altogether and was demolished.

Some kids got scared of going the top of their street.

    4 of uswent eveywhere....NewBrighton,Blundel Sands,Ainsdale Beach,SpekeHall ect,ect unattended by adults.

My Cinema was at the bottom of Mere Lane,so didn't need to go into town...anyone remember the name of the cinema? we used to call it the pit,but that wasn't it's real name as it got it's nickname from the park opposite ie the pit

    Hi George,

It was the Mere Lane Picture House - the last Liverpool cinema opened in World War 1. It closed in September 1963.

Cheers Colin, but I don't think it closed in 63 as I wouldn't have been able to go in there prior to its closure ie I was not old enough.
