Yeah the Birkenhead ones you are referring to were located below ground level on the roundabout at the Central Hotel and Birkenhead Central Railway Station.

I must say, this was one toilet I never had the pleasure of dropping muck at. Saddens me really.

RE: The Birkenhead underground toilets - Yes they were in the middle of the road, but I doubt there would have been as much traffic as there is today. they've been closed years.

I remember seeing the Scotland Road ones (albeit well after they'd been closed down) a while back, but I've not noticed them for a while. Can they still be seen? Where they by the Rotunda traffic lights?

Was that the Philharmonic? Really off-putting with all the ladies walking in for a gawp at the tiles.

I seem to remember public toilets on a central reservation on Dale St or Water St - or somewhere around there. Long gone now, like my memory?

Possibly Victoria Street, they were in the middle of the street and traffic had to go either side of them.

I remember the Gents on Rathbone road, opposite Borax street. Underground and smelly.
