    Lightbulb Liverpool: Europe's Sculpture Capital.

Liverpool already has/had a fair few outdoor public sculptures, some good (the luggage, Tracy Emin's 'Roman Standard', the Peter Pan statue ) and some not so good.

To all you photographers this might be a decent place to catalogue them?

What I'm going to propose is that the city invites 100 contemporary sculptors from around the world to create 100 works around the city. Each commission will be site specific (i.e. created specifically for that space) and will be installed in situ. 100 different interpretations of the city.

The point here will be NOT to produce sculptures that everyone likes neccessarily but to promote Liverpool worldwide through what would be a unique and lasting art experiment. Apart from the educational tie-ins for the local schoolkids, Liverpool would become known as Europe's Sculpture Capital and would probably attract thousands of international tourists on a trail around the city to see them.

Anyone like the idea? I would imagine lottery funding could be sought.
