On the subject of pubs it is pleasing to note that the LAMB in Wavertree has now been fully restored.
The section which collapsed over the carriage arch in summer 2007 is now back in place and it looks really good. Only problem is the new brick work shows which part collapsed!

Cheers, you cant beat a good old British pub, too many are closing down, to the detriment of the communities they are part of
Ged,
Have you any pictures of The Midden off Thirlmere Road?
Coming up for the game on Saturday, with a Stoke fan who is a mate. His mate runs the Midden so we're calling in. I think I've been in before but don't think it was called The Midden then.

Could be Ritches bar (formerly the Standard) as Shanks' is a reds pub.
The Thirlmere itself is on the other pub page. If it exists in Liverpool, it's on that site somewhere.
Thanks Ged,
Just checked and the midden is actually on Rydal St, off Thirlmere Road.
Also saw the picture of Dunny's. That was Dunlop's social club originally and I was a member when I served my apprenticeship at Dunlop's. Called in about 15 years after I left and it was being run by an electrician I'd worked with - Bob Langton. Wonder if he is still there?
Looks a neat little pub you've got there Ged. But I don't think the state of
that name plate does it any favours, do you? Not a premonition, I hope.

Well it ain't my pub and I don't look at that sign, only the bottom of my glass as the ale washes down my throat.
The Old Stanley Arms in Prescot Rd,another bites the dust. there was always meat to be had in here years ago as the cold storage was close by.

Hey nice pics GD and of my area too
The Old Stanley Arms was known as Dixies. My dad used to go there on a Friday afternoon when he was paid and bring home lots of meat.
Remember he had bags of sweets as well
