I don't I'm afraid. I did find it's name in a book of Scotland Road pubs once but no other info or photos. I'll see if my dad can remember the number and get back to you.
Thanks

Hi Tippo! Sorry! just found this message, and Yes, I trained under Alf Brown and George Davis. Operated a old Hilscher Union Machine in Room 2.
some of the names you mention I do recall! I was forced to leave there when they started demolishing the old machines. and replacing them with American Reading's, could'nt survive on the labourer's wage!!! Cheers
Hi Ged
We think the pub was at 132-136 Scotland Road. Does that help?
Thanks!
Lisa
It sure does but not much info on it. 132-134 BH = Beer House in pre 1860 meaning it was just a house that sold beer and wouldn't have looked markedly different to any other house on the street but then sometime later it was modified to a pub frontage and became the Clock Vaults.
It would have been on the East side of Scotland Road, that is on the stretch around Juvenal Street. Sorry there is not more information on it.

Would anyone have any pics of the The Criterion pub which was on Brunswick Road at the top of Islington before it was demolished in the late 70's for road widening.
They later built Office World/Staples where the pub would have stood.
It was also known locally as Scott's - Scott being the surname of the feller who ran it for years prior to my parents taking it on).
My parents had it for 9 yrs from 1967-76 and then my uncle had it for about a year circa 78 - I was brought up there so bit of a sentimental reason for asking.
Jay, I will have a look for it in my books at home tonight.
There is a Frank Green print available, titled 'Criterion, Brunswick Road'

I went past the Prince of Wales Hotel (corner London Rd/Moss St)yesterday in a bus and it was the first time I had ever seen it. Was surprised at how ornate it was. Glad to find these photos here taken by Kev. Does anyone know anything about the building? Was it a real residential hotel or just a pub? When did it close as a pub? I know the statues are Edward VII and Queen Alexandra when Prince and Princess of Wales but don't know who the carved heads are of. Any info greatfully received. Cheers Julie
From 'A pub on every corner' vol 4.
Situated on Brunswick Road and an alley called Greenside, the premises pre 1880s was listed as a Wine and Spirits Vaults. Its former nickname was Scott's after Peter Scott who managed the pub from the 1940s to the 1960s and is indicated on the pub's windows.
It was also known locally as the Irish House due to the large number of Irishmen who once lodged in nearby Shaw Street and adjacent streets who frequented the pub.
The adjoining tobacconist belonged to J. Coxhill when photographed here in the 60s.
.
Ma Boyles oyster bar ,this at the back of Tower Building and adjacent to St Nicks church. Established in 1870, not a very good frontage
