Last time I photographed this pub, the old Clarence on the corner of Canal St and Bridge St, they were preparing it for a new venture,it opened as a plasterers with apt adverts like "Do you want to get plastered". Alas it`s for sale again.

The old Dominion pub on Derby Rd having some work done to it but I can`t see it opening as a pub again

Good pic's Joe! There's something going on at the "Dominion",as there are lights on,at the side entrance,of an evening! Wonder what it might be?
My Uncles used to go for a drink in a pub they called the Criterion but I don't believe that was the real name. It may have been on Admiral Street. It was by Princes Park gates for sure by the Welsh houses. I was about 5 or 6 so it is stretching my memory. Anyone ever hear of it?

I took many pics in the Grapes years ago. I must scan them and put them up here. I have forgotten it had a fireplace. We used to go there when we were at the Cavern. You had to get a 'pass out' and it was just enough time to get one drink and scurry back.

Even better, here it is with thanks again to Freddy O'Connor.
Pictured here in the 60s when the Licensee was John Carlton, it was a Charrington's House and stood just south of Admiral Street on the corner of South street with Hawkstone Road. It was demolished in the 1970s along with the houses.

Gosh I must have passed it 1000 times as a kid. Thanks Ged. Reliving my childhood here. This part was when I lived with my beloved Grandmother in Treborth Street. I was spoiled with three uncles living there (two in their 20's) and a teen-aged cousin, I made a fortune in Beanos, Dandys and sweeties running their errands for razor blades, cigarettes, hair gel etc.

I love these old houses. Sad they have gone.

I see the Kendal Castle in its latter years had a roof garden. Very posh
Here are the remains in January 2009. New housing now stands here and in fact either side of the Saddle Inn pub whose manager must be delighted.
