    Default Another Grapes.

Had a little mooch down by the streets at the back of Berry Street and off Hardman Street. I knew of the Pilgrim pub but didn't know of the Grapes on Knight Street.

Nice pics Ged. The Grapes went all psychedelic for a time and was painted mad colours inside, luckily its returned to being a traditional boozer now.

What makes a good pub? Is it the beer, the building, the customers ? the history? or a mix of all ? Me? I like good beer, pleasant company, friendly helpful staff, maybe a good debate or argument, ( as long as it does not get out of hand?) I have probably had a pint in most of the pubs around the city and districts, there are still some gems still out there!!

    Default the boundary pub

the boundary pub was my first port of call on my way into town onsaturday nights in the 70s. My pals and I would all meet in there and then catch a bus tothe Empire corner of Wood Street and Hanover, then walk over to the post office in School Lane, the Triton in Paradise Street, the Carnarvon Castle around Williamson Square, the White Star in Temple Street, the Grapes in Matthew Street and shoot back up to the Empire where we could get served out of hours for the extra pint. Good old days.

Default Grove Pub, Plimsoll St, Edge Hill, Liverpool

Not sure if The Grove, Plimsoll St, Edge Hill is still standing. Photo taken a few years ago. Whole area scheduled for demolition under the edge Lane improvement scheme

One of the rare original pubs in the L17 area. There are only 3 with Lark Lane having the other two.

and the pub sign for Max

Thought of Maxie yesterday when I saw this pub sign. This whole estate on Shard close and Hambledon Close is awaiting demolition.

Question for you ale buffs: Which pub has a sign up outside saying our ale is out of this world - with some 'out of this world creatures painted on it'

    I'll post it up next.

(I was taking a pic of the Hartley's Jam factory area big chimney to post on where is this located thread but a car sped past with a gang of nossers shouting kn0b head and I fell of my bollard.)
