Very lovely looking pubs in Knotty Ash. The second one says, established in 1877.. Now, that family knows how to keep a business alive...Bravo to them...

The Knotty Ash pub in thoes great photo's by Gregs Dad was my local for many years in the 1950s and 60s and the licencee who ran it for many years was a Mrs Jump. The name over the pub door read Florence May Jump.

Great pictures of pubs around Garston/Liverpool/Wirral/Ches, and other locations.
Shame that so many historical ones are shut.

Between Knotty Ash village hall and Knotty Ash Station there were three pubs. The Knotty Ash, The Wheatsheaf and the oldest one The Lord Nelson. In the middle of thies pubs was the old Knotty Ash Brewery, which later became Kellys Bakery. But I wouldnt know if thies two buildings where still standing. I think the The Rocket in Broadgreen was a Knotty Ash Brewery pub at one time, as one of the windows had Knotty Ash brewery etched in it. Mind you im going back 50 yrs.

The Lord Nelson is still there, I haven't been there for a couple of years but a friend says he regularly drinks there. It's a very small pub.
    Cheers,

Returning to work this week after the summer holidays the Copplehouse pub which closed earlier this summer appeared to have building work going on when I passed by - presumably it may reopen again soon?
