Those pubs I know but I think The Cock and Bottle may have had another name. You went there before you went to the Abbey. Really bright clear shots GD.
Oh as I was young and easy in the mercy of his means,
Time held me green and dying
Though I sang in my chains like the sea.

The Coffee House in Wavertree near to the Picton Clock. This is Wavertrees oldest pub, records go back to 1777. The interior was the work of Walter Thomas, who also worked on the Philharmonic in Hope St and the Vines in Lime St. Haven`t been inside lately but I often played bowls there in league and competition games and was always amazed by the amount of books on the shelves in the interior.I supposed it was used as a reading room many years ago.

    Hi all,
just wondered if anyone here knows how long the "Cock and Bottle" has been spread over, what looks like, two seperate buildings? Also,to the left of the pub, was Britains smallest house, for many years. When was it absorbed into the main pub building? It seems to me, like a good idea to re-instate this, as a local attraction, as the one in llandudno seems to do o.k.!

The Dominion pub on Derby Road.
Took this yesterday, there was no name signs on it and I couldn`t remember
what it was called. So I rang my brother to see if he could remember it. He not only remembered it but told me he was sent down there to meet our grandfather, who was a docker, every payday to get grandma`s housekeeping
    money before he spent it.
The sculpture which sits on the apex seems to be wearing a sou`wester with
an axe in his hand and a dog at his heel.

In the likeness of 'a traveller' it is believed. Saw many a stripper on there when I was forced to go with my elders after delivering H.M. Customs and Excise 'out of charge notes' for canary tomatoes to Hornby dock.

Spent many a lunchtime in there in the 70s. Being just by Canada Dock, it was the regular haunt of Harrison Line personnel, of which I was one.

    Default Belle Vue Pub Wavertree

Belle Vue - I've seen a pic of this pub somewhere before it was demolished and in a book on Wavertree dating back to early part of the century. My Nan worked in there for many years and Grandad was alwasy drinking in there. They lived next to it in what was Wavertree Vale and just off Picton road. It would be nice to see any other pics of this place. Holds lots of memories for me.

Talking Clock Vaults on Scottie Rd

    Hi everyone

Been looking through all of your photos and wondered if anyone has one of the Clock Vaults on Scotland Rd. My grandfather was the publican there sometime through the 40s/50s and I would love some info about it if anyone can help.

    Thanks!

Do you know the number it was addressed at. I have a list of all the pubs that ever existed on Scottie but there are also the inevitable name changes along the way with some, for instance The Milton on the corner of Milton St was once known as the clock but not the clock vaults.
