Been great looking through this thread right from the start; gives you a real sence as to how the city has changed so much in the last 10 or so years.

Out of interest, are there any more images of Roe Street Gyratory lurking around? there are some a few pages back but they mainly concerntrate on the buses rather than the area itself.

Wonderful to see those old photographs of street scenes by Joe Devine. Excellent work, Ged, you hosting them for everyone to see.

    Thanks, Ged.

    Some great photos already.
Apart from mine, that's the first colour photo I've seen of the Cameo.

Thanks chaps, it's a pleasure unearthing these and a labour of love, not a chore to scan them. I'm sure the man is worthy of an exhibition if the current ones are anything to go by and i've contacted the NMGM on his behalf.

What an amazing shot of Haymarket that is? The LNWR must have just been built and I don't think the second arch was on Lime Street yet.

    Brilliant!

It must qualify as one of the oldest photos we have of the city centre.

As well as updating my new 'Pubs' page on my website, there are also now around 100 street scenes shots as can be seen below.

It's always great seeing Mr Devine's photos.
I must have a good tidy up and find more of my photos.
That one of Fox Street is the twin of one I took, and I took loads of Duke Street in the 1980s, including the entrance to Duke's Terrace (the last back-to-backs), but where they are now is a mystery.

Thank you Chris and Phil. Hope you find them Phil, the last of the back to backs yes. Funnily enough, that one of Fox st is one of my own from 1990 and appeared in my first book before i'd become reacquainted with Joe. He has so many many more of just people in pubs but I haven't even scanned them as i'd still be doing it next year. I bet people would like to see themselves from back in the last few decades though.
