I don't believe in capital punishment. What is more I have little interest in the Beatles. I remember them well though, they ruined a perfectly good jazz club.

Leighton, the film could be 'Birth of the Beatles' which was shot on location in Liverpool in 1979? It starred amongst others John Altman (Nick Cotton from Eastenders) as George Harrison. It follows the boys from ther Hamburg days up to where they appeared on the Ed Sullivan show.
I am sure I have it on video.

I just got a copy of 'These Dangerous Years', I watched 'Violent Playground' a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed the old scenes of Liverpool, These dangerous Years doesn't compare with it, I saw it years ago and had forgotten what it was about. There are very few scenes recognisable as Liverpool.

I've just come across British Pathe News website. They have an amazing collection of clips. You can download a low quality version of them for free.

You have to register and actually getting hold of the clips is a long and complicated process but is worth the effort.

I just did a search for "liverpool" and it came back with 693 videos. I have only viewed about 10 so far but am already impressed.

I've watched a very odd "Italian medieval crossbowmen challenge an English team to a match" from 1961, the standard Beatles type film, and some more Italians walking through town with flags.

If you search for Liverpool you have to watch out for red herrings like Londons Liverpool Street station etc.

Before downloading a video you can click on "Preview Stills" to get an idea what its about and there is also a text description with this.

Brilliant, it would be interesting to see if the people on the film were still around

When the bands were on stage you could here screaming but when they cut to the crowd they were just standing there listening/applauding politely
