I would be interested in that. I lived in Cedar Road for 15 years. I bet the local Churches have some stuff. Blessed Sacrament, on Walton Vale, has been there for a Century so I am sure they have archives. Never took any of the Vale myself.

It's a sad fact but there isn't really that much on the net ref. Walton Vale or Orrell Park! I've been looking for ages and have found about 10 photo's! I got so frustrated that I went back and took a couple of snaps last year and put them on Google Earth if anyone wants to have a squint! The thing that really annoys me is that one of my aunts worked in a photographic shop on Dale street and my uncle Vic was a photographer for Liverpool City Council so I could have had a camera when I was young but I never bothered!...Wish to God I had now.

Wasn't there a Zoological garden somewhere in Walton? I think the stone gate posts still exist?

The ticket office still stands, opposite the hospital, and near to the "Plough"(?) pub'.It was used as a florist, but is now empty. There is a plaster frieze of the animals, over the top of the window,I've got a pic' somewhere!!

Yeah, it was opposite the Hospital. There's a thread on here somewhere about it. The place oppostie Walton Hospital (Small arched building) has all animals in the brickwork above. (Am not sure what this place is at the moment but someone will )

Zoological gardens. Thanks guys, I thought I'd seen it somewhere. I'll have a search on the threads for some pics of the gatehouse, or what's left of it.

    Thanks Ged,

I really enjoyed going through that thread. I'm amazed at the size and scale of Rice Lane site. When me mum said I was born in a zoo, she wasn't far wrong, Walton Hosp. is not too far away.
