The physiological changes that come with cold acclimatisation aren't compatible with fast competitive swimming, and I also lost quite a lot of my cardiac muscle after a heart attack back in '01. I really would like to take part in the cross-Mersey swim even though I may well have to hitch a lift in the safety boat part way across, although saying that I can cover a mile in around an hour. Most of my swimming is in the R. Weaver in Frodsham and Hatchmere in Delamere Forest, although I regularly visit New Brighton. Unfortunately I wouldn't pass the medical required before a Channel swim although I think I'd manage a relay.
By the way, if you were in one of the waves going in from the pontoon I may have a shot of you diving in.
