    Default Post and telephone boxes.

Can't find the original threads on these but there's a crackin' article in todays daily post about them with some colour pics. There's a letter box/phone box combined in Helsby and a double box in Southport as well as an early one in Alder Hey hospital and a 'special' one at the Albert dock.

THEY are among the nation’s most treasured icons and a cherished feature of the British street scene.

Now the Royal Mail’s distinctive red letter boxes have emerged as the subject of one man’s passion.

Bill Owens has dedicated his retirement to taking hundreds of photographs of pillar, wall and post-mounted letter boxes in an effort to help preserve them for future generations. more....

There's an Edward VIII pillar box somewhere in Liverpool - since he was only King for a few months in 1936, these must be pretty rare. Anyone know where it is?

Allerton Road (Allerton Police Station would be off to the right hand side).

There's one at the corner of Canning St / Bedford St South too. So not actually the one I was thinking of - maybe they're not so rare after all.
