This is a picture I took in late 1965 or early 1966 of Liverpool University and the Catholic Cathedral while it was still under construction. IIRC the stuff on the steel roof was blue protective plastic.
The three planes are DeHavilland Chipmunks fom the University Air Squadron from Woodvale, and I was in a fourth plane. At that time, I was a photographer for the university newspaper, and this picture was also a 1/2 page print in the Liverpool Echo.
It was my third ever flight in a plane, the previous two being 5/- joy rides from Speke Airport, and was quite an exciting ride.

See if you can see the changes to the area... and notice that Liverpool had not yet completely converted to smokeless coal by then.
