Default Looking for OLD people from under the bridge

    Hi

I wonder if anyone has any idea where these cowboys are:

    John Bates
    Joey Rowan
    Jimmy

    Vought
    Eugene Murry
Boey Knight (boey is a nickname)

    or their kin

They would be in their 70s, raised in King Street area, Garston, god

    knows where they are now.

If you do, can you let us know or tell them Alf Harrison formerly of 80 King street, wants to catch up with them.

    Any

suggestions of how to track these people down?

    Cheers

    MM

    Hello All.

Did anyone see the message in the echo last week (I think) about the subject of this thread? Trying

to figure out how it got there.

I did put the same message as the original post here in the liverpool expats forum on the echo site. But I didn't

think they got published in the paper - do they?

So far we have heard from people who know all the fellows in the message. Relatives of ours that we

haven't heard from since, well, many years before I was born. Thats a brilliant result. Relatives of the people in the list which has been lovely and

other people who knew my dad long ago - also brilliant.

We have managed to track down them all.
2 have passed on which is sad.
    But the other

three - dad has a chance to talk to now so thats great!

But its still a mystery how the notice got into the echo.

    John - you

were right - two out of three of those still living drink at the woodies.

That's great Merseymay - I knew you'd be successful - once Garston gets going everybody knows in no time!!! No luck

on the coal story yet - been a bit cold the last two weeks and the oldies have not been coming to church - I will post if I hear anything.

oh yea! I have heard from half of garston and well beyond in the last

    few days.

I emailed the echo. Apparently on saturdays they run a nostalgia section and sometimes pick something from the expats site to put in there.

So that explains how it got into the paper.

Its been great except I have rsi from replying to emails.

Thanks sweetpatooti - if you ever hear

anything do let me know. I have added a question on the topic to a few of our replys to the folks who've been in touch.

    Hi John
With regard to the people in this thread - we found them all or in the case of those deceased, family and friends of them. Dad has spoken via email and phone with 2 and had messages passed on via email from another. The other two have passed on. We heard from all sorts of other people too, a few relatives and other friends of dads.
One person we heard from is the younger brother of my dads childhood best friend (dads best friend passed away a long while back) . He sent dad a copy of the garston pictorial! I have not seen it yet but my folks have raved about it.

I have asked a few people who got in touch whether they recall the 'coal incident' that first brought me to yoliverpool but so far no leads. I don't think I can access the echo archives online so cant research whether it was mentioned in there and the only other things I can think of are to see if the incident was reported to the police or whether the company that runs/ran garston docks at the time would have records that old.

Oh well. Its great my dad got to hear from so many old friends.

    Thanks for asking!
