Tom Bell (August 2, 1933 – October 4, 2006) was an English actor on stage, film and television. He was dark-haired, lean, and in his later years often played characters having a sinister side to their nature.

He was born in Liverpool, but was evacuated as a child during the Second World War, and lived with three different families in the Morecambe area. In 1948 at age 15, Bell began to act in his first school plays and though he never dominated the performances, he demonstrated his acting ability.

He made his first movie appearances in the 1960s in so-called kitchen sink dramas, including The Kitchen and The L-Shaped Room.

In 1978 he came to worldwide attention portraying Adolf Eichmann in the Emmy-winning tv-series "Holocaust", and he received a BAFTA-Award nomination for the series Out. He also played Jack "The Hat" McVitie in the 1990 film The Krays and appeared in other films such as Wish You Were Here, Prospero's Books and Swing.

Bell played sexist police officer Detective Sergeant Bill Otley opposite Dame Helen Mirren in the first three series of the critically acclaimed ITV series Prime Suspect. In 1993, in the 3rd season, he received a second BAFTA nomination.

He died in hospital aged 73 after suffering a short illness. He is survived by one son and two daughters.
