Jacksons was a susidiary of John Collier so it could have been trading under the name Jacksons or John Collier.

Someone who worked there said she worked at Jacksons in Fleet Street as a machinist in the '60's. I know Jacksons closed all their factories in about 1977 but wondered if the Liverpool one closed before this.

    Hello.

I worked at Jacksons Fleet Street factory until being made redundent do to the closure. I can't be certain but I think it was 1972 or 1973.

I can remember a committee of our shop stewards going up to Gateshead, where the other Jackson factory was situated.

It was taken over by Burtons the Tailors.

Jacksons had full order books and we worked seven days a week to keep the work flowing, but Burtons transfered the best to their own factory and closed us down, later they closed down Gateshead.

Hello Gail, my Father worked for Jackson The Tailors for many years as head driver. Working out of Fleet Street to leeds. I think the Factory closed in the 70's, but not too sure.
If you would like to make contact by email I would be happy to tell you more.

    Rgds,

    Don.
