The Land Restoration Trust will be managing the park once it has been developed and they are running a drop-in session for the general public where you can meet the various partners involved with the project and see the plans for the site.
It is between 3.30pm and 7.30pm on Wednesday 24th Feb 2010 at Shorefelds Technology College.
[edit] Further info here including a pdf with a map of how the finished site will look

Really exciting stuff! Can't wait to see it happening for real after all the talk.

Cheers for the link Mike
I never knew that. It should be really well established with wildlife after all these years.
I expect it is full of old fridges and shopping trolleys though.
Probably chocked full of undergrowth I should imagine...
here is a link to the original map...

Have you seen any activity down there GingerTheCat?

Yes there is activity. Guys in yellow jackets with saws tidying up the trees. Pretty low key stuff though.
Love your scan of the original map. I've got the same one but don't have a good scan.
I'm going to go down and try and take some piccies soon... anyone know if much has been done yet? I'm guessing they are still clearing the undergrowth and rubbish?
Slightly more activity this morning. There was a small digger thing by the roundabout. Still looks pretty much the same to me. From the road anyway.
cheers
I still can't believe that it's all happening now! It's been too long... in some ways it's a shame it couldn't have been all a park again... at least we get the oriental gardens back... i do wish the Indian Garden would have been in the plans too..
I wonder if the Dragon slide will be part of the "new" park? I did hear they were going to re-install some of the original features that are in storage... Blue peter ship?
Also, the Yellow Submarine is on loan to the JL Liverpool Airport... wonder if that will come "home"
did they have the yellow submarine at the garden festival in the eighties? im sure i remember going inside it?
